Domenico Melchiorre is Solo-Timpanist of the "Symphony Orchestra Basel" since 2007.

He worked among others under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Dennis Russell Davies, Peter Eötvös, Mario Venzago, Nello Santi, Michail Pletnew, Baldo Bodic, James Avery, Kai Bumann, Valery Gergiev, Maxim Schostakowitsch, Heinz Holliger, Jean Deroyer.

Domenico studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau with Prof. Bernhard Wulff, Prof. Taijiro Miyazaki and Prof. Pascal Pons.

From 2007 to 2010 he was lecturer at the Music Universitiy of Lugano.

Prizewinner at the competition for Schlagzeuger und Dialogpartner with the newly formed Percussion duo EARDRUM in Morschen.
